"This is a Historical Record of the Old Chicago Council on Global Affairs Website. Are you Looking for the Current Site?"
Group of 500

The Group of 500 (G500) is a growing assembly of the region’s business, political, and civic leaders who have broadly endorsed the direction of the 53-member bipartisan Task Force on Immigration and U.S. Economic Competitiveness: A View from the Midwest.

If you agree

  • The Midwest needs immigrants—both high-skilled and low-skilled—to increase its competitiveness; our industries rely on foreign-born talent and many shrinking communities rely on newcomers to bolster their economies.
  • Many of the programs employers count on to admit foreign workers are too bureaucratic to be useful. Legal quotas are often too low to meet labor needs and in some cases, there is no way for needed workers to enter the United States lawfully, or stay once here.
  • The nation’s ineffective immigration system is holding back the region’s economic growth. Democrats and Republicans must resume genuine bipartisan efforts to craft solutions.
  • The Midwest’s growing need for immigrant workers and its deepening appreciation of the talent and vitality they bring give Midwesterners a unique role—and unique responsibility—in spearheading the call for better answers from Washington.

Join the Group of 500

Individuals, companies, organizations, and other key stakeholders are invited to sign their personal or institutional names to the list featured on the Midwestimmigration.org website and in other handouts associated with the report. Signatories broadly endorse the overall message outlined above and may not agree with the report in its entirety. All individuals listed below are signing on as individuals and not on behalf on their affiliated organizations.

There is no financial commitment to signing on.
